Information Regarding Potential Student Walkouts

Posted Date: 02/03/26 (01:51 PM)

Dear FLCS Parents and Staff,

We are aware of reports regarding potential student walkouts to protest ICE activities. Our priority is to ensure student safety while maintaining an environment focused on learning.

Our Stance

FLCS respects students' First Amendment rights to free expression. While we do not endorse or sponsor walkouts, we recognize the importance of civic engagement.

Key Guidelines

  • Safety: Schools will remain open and follow a normal schedule. We strongly discourage students from leaving campus, as we cannot guarantee their safety once they leave school grounds.

  • Attendance: Students who miss class will be marked with an unexcused absence. School policies regarding missed work and attendance will be applied consistently, regardless of the reason for the protest.

  • Supervision: Staff will be present on-site to monitor any student activity and ensure a peaceful, safe environment for everyone.

We encourage you to discuss these plans with your child and the importance of expressing their views responsibly. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,

Sterling Boles
