Changing Lives & Inspiring Futures

January 2, 2026

Welcome Back, FLCS!

As we return for our 2nd semester of the school year, we wanted to share some reflections from 1st semester that will continue to guide us at FLCS and our professional development offerings.

During the Fall of 2025, we conducted a variety of survey and feedback opportunities to students, parents, teachers, staff, and community members. As we have collected and analyzed that information here are some of the strengths to celebrate and areas of growth to consider, as we walk into the new year.
Happy New Year from Central Office

School Care Team - Comprehensive Needs

The School Care Team shared their comprehensive needs assessment report in December 2025. FLCS had 244 survey responses (parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators) and 12 focus groups. The key insights were as follows:

District Strengths:
  • Highly recommend FLCS (82.6% satisfaction rate!)
  • Feel welcomed and respected
  • Committed to continuous improvement
Priority Areas
  • Mental health visibility and access to support - resources may exist, but how do students, parents, and teacher access support?
  • Stakeholder collaboration - communication flow is satisfactory, but collaboration (two-way, cross-group, shared decision-making) could be more productive

Stay Interviews

Central Office conducted 19 face-to-face interviews across the district in Oct/Nov 2025.

Overall Strengths:
  • Supportive, collaborative staff and community
  • Positive collegial relationships and teamwork
  • Pride in student relationships and a sense of belonging
Challenges:
  • Limited resources: aides, staff, materials, technology
  • Student behavioral/social-emotional support needs
  • Need for improved communication and parent involvement

Collective Teacher Efficacy (CTE) Analysis

In October of 2024 and 2025, we asked FLCS teachers to complete the CTE survey as part of our ICTQ (UDL) grant requirements, with over 70 responses each year. Overall strengths across the district show a strong foundational belief in student learning and teacher capability.

Where are we growing?
  • Teacher persistence - not giving up on students; trying various strategies to reach all students
  • Confidence in Instructional Practices - teachers are learning more skill sets and gaining more confidence to reach a variety of learners.
Next Steps?
  • Continue UDL Coaching cycles and cohorts
  • Target more classroom-ready strategies; high-engagement classroom practices
  • Provide more opportunities for cross-building collaboration
